About the Farm What We Grow What We Make Where to Find Us

Lavender

Lavender is one of the anchor plants of our farm. We grow lots of it, but it never seems to be enough to satisfy demand, and some weeks at market our fresh cut bundles sell out as fast as we can bunch them.

We grow three main varieties of lavender- Grosso, Provence and Hidcote, although we always like to audition other varieties to see how hardy they are here on the coast. Lavender is a big part of our summer harvest, and it finds its way into many things we sell, from our handmade lavender wands, wreaths and sachets to our lovely Ball Jar Bouquets.

Even our Head Farm Boy Packy (who is rather allergic to lavender and tends to run screaming from the room when lavender wands are being woven) concedes that it is a beautiful plant that the bees adore, and therefore is well worth growing. As long as he doesn’t have to help harvest it.

We also sell plant starts of lavender so that you can grow your own supply of this most popular herb. Whether you want to dry it for crafts, cook with it or just enjoy watching the bees happily work the flowers, lavender is a beautiful addition to any garden. (With a nice sunny spot and well-drained soil, of course.)
