About the Farm What We Grow What We Make Where to Find Us

Catnip & Catnip Toys

W

e didn’t mean to grow so much catnip, but Eddie the Cat kept insisting there would be a market for it, and it turns out he knows what he is talking about. He may have an ulterior motive, but he doesn’t seem to mind too much when it’s harvest time- mainly because he knows he will get his fair share.

Catnip is a great herb- easy to grow, thrives on neglect, and very popular with feline companions. We sell it in many forms, so you have lots of options on how to reward the cats in your life. All of our catnip is grown here on our farm, and although it is not ‘certified organic’, we can assure you that it is chemical-free and fertilized only with a lot of compost and love.

CAT TOYS

Our fabulous cat toys have a devoted following! Packy’s wonderful mom Lupe sews our more elaborate ones for us- we mail her lots of catnip, and she sends us back boxes of Wacky Mice, Silly Birds and Crazy Oblongs. We produce the Fun Bundles here on the farm, which can be challenging to accomplish when the cats realize what we are up to and want to ‘help’.

EDDIES HOME GROWN

By popular request, we are adding to our catnip line by offering bags of pure farm-grown catnip. Our bags contain only whole leaf and flower buds- we do not chop up the catnip, stem and all, which would accelerate drying out of the oils in the leaves. Perfect for the cat who prefers their catnip straight up, or for making a nice cup of relaxing tea for yourself- did you know that catnip has a sedative effect on humans? Try mixing it with a little chamomile or mint for a nice soothing cuppa.

TIED STICKS

Once we’ve stripped the leaves and flowers off the dried catnip stems, we are left with a whole lot of catnip sticks. We made a fortuitous discovery one day when we came across the cats attacking the bag that was set aside to go out the compost pile- Eddie and Squeaky love the sticks almost as much as the leaves. Add a bit of hemp twine to tie them together and contribute a bit of dangling string temptation to the whole thing, and you have a quick, fun and totally legal supply of kitty joy.
