Friends of the Farm
A small farm is still a lot of work, and we don’t know where we would be without all of our friends and family who pitch in to help when they are needed.
Lupe Coleman (aka Momco)
Packy’s Mom Lupe is an amazing seamstress, and she fearlessly and speedily throws together sachets and cat toys with ease and style. We ship her dried herbs, and she ships us back creative wonders. She works in her lovely sewing room in Northern California, and between orders for us, she makes the most amazing one-of-a-kind handbags and other fabric delights.
Ralph Dad Retzlaff
Teresa’s Dad is a constant source of support and encouragement, as well as a willing pair of hands to help out doing whatever is needed when he visits us. He has stripped dried lavender, sorted seeds, chopped up debris for the compost pile and helped bag the dried catnip, making him very popular with Eddie the Cat. He also turned us on to the wonders of slow cooker cuisine, something for which we are always grateful when we come home after a long hard day at the market to find a hot meal waiting for us. Everyone should be so lucky to have such a wonderful Dad.
Maria, Josh and Eva Goodman Pincetich
Maria's ties to Ostman Farm are long and deep- her mother Eva (Ostman) Pincetich was born on the property, and grew up working on the family farm. Eva and Vincent Pincetich would bring their family to Seaside every summer, and during those visits, as well as many others, Maria's bond with her grandparents, and her love of the farm grew strong. As the farm has now passed on to her, she in turn now shares that love with her husband Josh, and their delightful daughter Eva Sophia, born in 2005. They make the drive out from Portland whenever they can, and their support and encouragement for the Ostman Farm Project has been wonderful. It is great to see Eva Sophia, the fourth generation of Ostman family, taking her first exploring steps through the gardens of her great grandparent's farm.
Blue Scorcher Bakery
Our friends at the Blue Scorcher Bakery in Astoria are a fabulous bunch of bakers, chefs and food fanatics who cheerfully show up to help us out when we need them. We supply them with fresh cut flowers to brighten the bakery, as well as edible ones where needed, and as many fresh herbs as we can grow. They let us bake our super special Lavender Shortbread on their premises, as well as feed us so much delicious bread and tasty organic food that we are putting on far too much weight. If you are in Astoria, you should definitely visit and have a bite to eat.
The Quennells
This wonderful family is an inspiration and a delight to know. Roger, Youngiee and Romneya are homesteading on their land just outside of Astoria, and they have shared with us ideas, amazing produce and cheerful help whenever we have really needed it. Youngiee is the talented designer behind this very website, and we are so grateful for her patience and support.
The Fog City Gang
Head Farm Girl Teresa’s oldest sister Laura’s family has come to visit us each summer that we have been here, and they bring with them lots of energy, noise and excitement as well as many pairs of helpful hands. Laura and Leonard, and their children Nathan, Pete and Julia are our favorite migrant farm crew!
